If you didn't know already, the Royal Ascot is this coming Tuesday through Saturday and it will be the Christmas of hat enthusiasts like me. I've been eyeing this Union Jack cocktail hat by Victoria Grant and I think it would be a perfect topper for a sleek mod-inspired outfit.
...however, it also has a pretty price of £590.00, that's in British pounds. Outsapop blogged it a few weeks ago and suggested that at that price you should probably make it yourself. I started out with an ice cream carton lid as the base. I trimmed the plastic edge down to about 5/8''.
The finished product (finished as in, it's in a wearable stage). I'm still debating if I should add crystal chains to the stripes. I will definitely add a tiny veil though.
