In other words, they look better than they taste. They reminded me of frosted fruits and Christmas ornaments covered in opal-colored glitters.
I guess most Americans have never seen this kind of candy before. I have never seen it either until I bought two bags for 99 cents at a closing down Cost Plus World Market. (I later found out they go by the name of apple drops in many places). They taste like regular apple flavored candy, but with a slightly different taste that I can't really describe. In other words, they look better than they taste. They reminded me of frosted fruits and Christmas ornaments covered in opal-colored glitters. Anyway, I found these beads and my first reaction was "they look like those British apple candies what's-the-name!" As I was trying to recollect the name with the help of Google, I found out rosy apple is the less common version of another candy called apple drops. I learn something new everyday.
