How To: Twiggy bottom eyelashes

The focal point of Twiggy's face are her eyes, or more specifically her comically long eyelashes. She admitted that she used three pairs of false eyelashes on her upper eyelid while painted on her lower ones. It takes her about an hour to get her make up done. I tried to paint on lower eyelashes, but with a combination of unsturdy hands and lack of proper equipment, I can never get the right result. I looked into buying fake lower eyelashes, but they are not in great demand enough to be sold cheaply at the few places who actually sell them (even then they can't produce the shape I'm looking for).

I, of course, decided to make my own. I started with cheap normal false eyelashes, I got them for $1.60 (for 10 pairs!) on eBay. The box arrived a little damaged, but that's alright.

The vast majority of false eyelashes sold on eBay comes from sellers based in Asia, and they only come in a few styles, make sure you get exactly this kind if you want to make false eyelashes for lower eyelid. They should have alternate long and short hair (not the criss-crossed one), and the ends should taper off.

The obvious solution would be trimming the tip off, but after trying that I realized the tip of the false eyelashes are especially made to be pointy, as blunt tips will look really really fake. I studied it for a while and decided to pull off the long hair, leaving the short hair behind. The short hair is the perfect length and pulling off half of the hair will create the perfect thickness. (This is why you want to buy the cheap ones, the hair will be easier to pull off.
After pulling off all the long hair, just curl the lashes slightly with a lash curler (make sure you curl them, not crimp them) and they are ready to wear. They are also perfect to wear on your upper eyelid if you need more fullness to you upper lash but don't need the extra length.
