Unfortunately roses are the least long-lasting gifts in the world, but if you make them into beads and the scent can be preserved forever. I made about 6 beads with just one flower. The recipe can be found here.

Don't you hate it when the shoes you bought turned out to be extremely uncomfortable? I bought these $10 flip-flops from Walgreens recently because I need sandals, and I found out the straps are way too short and scratchy after wearing them for a while. After studying them for a while (okay like ten seconds), I realized I can easily remove the straps and replace them with something more comfortable than cheap molded plastic. I decided to use ribbons since I have a lot of them and I have no idea what else to do with them. Also I've been eyeing these really cool shoes called Mohops lately, but they cost $200 a pair. So I'm making my own cheap version. I made it so I can tie them with any ribbon/string I want.
(From now on I will list how much each project cost, you will be surprised at how much you can save when you make it yourself.)
I noticed paper plates (free) can be made into a nicer shape when you make it into a shallow cone. I then covered it with felt (20¢). The spike is a peacock feather stem ($1.00) painted with acrylic paint. Finally I glued a flower (79¢) on. (Total cost: $1.99+small amount of glue&paint. Similar item sells for $120.) |
